Educators helped the children explore the locations in their area, including the Deniliquin Library, the Band Hall, the vet clinic, and the Orana
Aged Care building and the CBD in general, while learning how to use the footpaths and crosswalks and follow road signs safely.
Supervisor Heidi Plant said being able to go on excursions again has been a wonderful change for the children since COVID-19 restrictions last year.
‘‘It is so wonderful to be out and about in our community again,’’ Mrs Plant said.
The children also learned about the changing seasons by collecting autumn leaves.
After the excursion, the children sat down to talk about what they enjoyed and drew maps from memory of the things they saw.
‘‘Our children are active members of our community, so for them to feel a part of that is really important,’’ Mrs Plant said.
