Eastern division schools - which include Mayrung and Blighty primary schools, and those located in the Southern Riverina regions of Berrigan Shire and Murrumbidgee - will return to the classroom from Monday, February 2.
Other local schools are in the western division, with students returning to the classroom on Monday, February 9.
Teachers will head back earlier for staff development days.
Please make sure to check directly with your child’s school regarding any variations to the term start dates because of the development days.
Term one will conclude for both divisions on April 2, and return for Term 2 in Wednesday, April 22.
For those who attend school across the border, Victorian government schools resume on Wednesday, January 28.
The Victorian Easter holidays begin on Thursday, April 2.
School zones back in action
The return of students to the classroom will mean school speed zones will be back in effect.
In NSW, school zone speed limit restrictions operate from 8am to 9.30am and 3pm to 4.30pm weekdays during the school term.
Vehicles must reduce their speed to 40km/h.
While some local schools now have a flashing light system to warn of the change in speed, not all of them have this feature.
So it’s up to you to pay attention to the signs.
Heavy penalties apply for motorists who drive over the speed limit or break other school zone laws.
