And that’s exactly what was on offer at the Deniliquin Town Hall on Friday.
Audience participation was highly recommended - shouting lines, dancing to musical numbers, and using props - to create a communal experience that transcends traditional film viewing.
This ritual, rooted in the cult classic’s rebellious spirit, fosters creativity and inclusivity, attracting both long time devotees and curious newcomers.
More than a movie night, it’s a celebration of self-expression and shared nostalgia, ensuring the phenomenon remains a cultural touchstone for generations to come.
While not everyone came in character costume, some leaned into the modern tradition and added some flair.
Chief among them were members of the Deniliquin Film Society committee, who greeting movie goers in the foyer of the town hall.

The Deniliquin Film Society was relaunched in April this year after a hiatus stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic period.
The group has curated a calendar of monthly screenings to be shown at the town hall.
You can attend by becoming a member of the Deniliquin Film Society, either for 12, six or three months, and then admission is free for the months your membership is current.
There is a discounted youth membership and children under-13 years can attend with an adult member.
