Fire crews responded to a machinery blaze at Wakool on Monday afternoon, with a backhoe found fully alight on Wakool Rd, about 20km east of the town.
One truck from the Wakool Village Rural Fire Brigade attended the scene.
Operators had already managed to prevent the fire from spreading onto nearby stubble by the time they arrived.
The fire, which is suspected to have been caused by mechanical failure, was contained swiftly, with crews remaining on site for around an hour.
At the time of going to print, crews are also continuing to monitor two separate fires burning out north of Jerilderie, along the Yanko and Colombo creeks.
Flaring up during last Friday’s extreme weather conditions, both are believed to have been caused by earlier lightning storms.
Both fires are under control and pose no threat to property or life.
