The local population has been temporarily boosted, as holiday makers flock to our region for the summer holidays.
And while some days have delivered weather conditions far less summery than we are used to, our visitors are making the most of the nice weather when we have it.
McLean Beach, as always, has been a popular spot for tourists and locals alike, with the boat ramp there the ideal launching point for speed boats and water skiing.
Other visitors have made their way in to town to seek out retail opportunities, and to enjoy the local cultural and recreational offerings.
On Friday we sent out one of our journalists with a mission to ‘talk with a tourist’.
At the Peppin Heritage Centre we came across James Bennett, who hails from Bendigo.
James was taking a tour of the Peppin Heritage Centre with some local relatives when we stopped for a chat.
“This isn’t my first time in Deni, but it is my first time back since before COVID, James said.
James used to visit Deniliquin to see family during holidays frequently, but he says there’s one thing about Deniliquin that always stands out for him.
“I love the river culture here with the Edward River,” he said.
“And there is just so much to do.”
