Kagome’s Pick‑A‑Box Deniliquin harvest morning resulted in $5,248 being raised for Deniliquin Health Service.
Hospital facility manager Ginny Lange said the funds have been earmarked for enhancing palliative care rooms and improving comfort for families - an area supporters say is deeply important to the community.
It’s not the first time Kagome has donated to the Deniliquin Hospital, with its previous tomato pick-a-box day in Deniliquin in 2022 also well supported.
“All up it’s probably well over $10,000 Kagome has donated to the hospital,” Mrs Lange said.
“It’s a great cause.”
Kagome representatives - operations manager Chris Taylor and regional manager Darcy Kirchhofer - said the company is committed to backing services that matter most to local people.
“We try to give back to health and education, and overall just offer the best support we can to the community,” Mr Taylor said.
“This is something close to the heart.”
The Deniliquin event once again drew strong crowds, with families filling their boxes with tomatoes straight from the paddock.
It is expected to return at the end of the next season, which usually wraps up mid to late January.
This week’s donation handover from Kagome comes as another fundraising group prepare to head off on their bike riding tour for the Deniliquin Hospital.
The Murray to Moyne Cycle Relay will be held tomorrow and Sunday, and the Deni team is ready and raring to go.
At its family fun night at the Deniliquin Boat Club earlier this month, the local group raised more than $11,000.
Donations are still being accepted by calling cycle team member Matt Tubb on 0407 432 710.
