Guitar maestro arrives in town

Christian Ruiz re-strings his guitar ready for a lesson.

Christian Ruiz arrived in Deniliquin on the bus from Melbourne about a fortnight ago, with his guitar in hand and ready to support up-and-coming musicians.

Originally from Argentina and previously living in Townsville, the classically trained musician has taken a position as the new guitar teacher with South West Music Regional Conservatorium.

Christian holds a degree in guitar teaching, is a bass player by trade and now a guitar teacher here in Deniliquin.

Having been situated in Townsville, Queensland for close to two years, Christian was looking for an opportunity for a change in scenery.

Although he did point out how “it is very different weather down here compared to up there”.

Christian is taking on students for outside of school tuition now, and his books are filling up rapidly.

As part of his role with SWM, he also looks forward to traditional classroom sessions and participating in other community engagement opportunities involving music.

“I am looking forward to going out to schools and being able to do some teaching there” he said.

If you are interested in getting lessons on a stringed instrument, and more specifically the guitar or bass, call SWM on 5881 4736.
