Stump alight
Deniliquin’s Fire + Rescue NSW brigade is reminding residents of the requirements for a pile burn, after being called to a burning stump about 6.27pm Saturday.
Originally reported by a member of the public as a fire at Willoughby's Beach, firefighters were redirected to Box St in north Deniliquin — on the opposite side of the river — where a stump had been
deliberately set alight as part of a bonfire.
Brigade Captain Martin Smith said pile burns in the town limits require council approval, and can only proceed after an inspection by FRNSW.
