Heritage funding extension

Owners of heritage properties across the region have more time to apply for funding through the 2026–27 Local Heritage Grants Program.

Applications have been extended until July 30, giving eligible property owners the opportunity to secure support for projects that preserve, restore and celebrate local heritage.

The program provides practical assistance for conservation and maintenance works that help protect the unique character, history and charm of Deniliquin and the surrounding villages.

It also aims to raise awareness of heritage conservation and encourage the preservation of significant local buildings and places.

Mayor Ashley Hall said the program provides an important opportunity for the community to invest in and protect local heritage assets for future generations.

"Our historic buildings and streetscapes tell the story of who we are and where we've come from," Cr Hall said, adding the program helps property owners undertake valuable conservation works that not only protect heritage features but also contribute to the overall character and appeal of our towns and villages.

“We encourage eligible property owners to consider how this funding could help bring their restoration or conservation project to life," Cr Hall said.

Funding is available for projects that support the conservation and maintenance of community buildings, heritage-listed properties, buildings located within heritage conservation areas, and buildings identified by council's heritage adviser as having heritage significance.

Successful applicants are required to provide a dollar-for-dollar contribution towards approved projects.
