Those are some of the key priorities Edward River Council wants to achieve over the next three years.
Each is outlined in council’s refreshed Advocacy Plan, which was endorsed by the council this week.
It sets a clear direction for how council will champion the needs and priorities of the region.
And its release comes at an opportune time, with our region firmly in the spotlight as a result of the Federal Farrer by-election.
Mayor Ashley Hall said the new plan strengthens council’s ability to advocate with confidence and purpose.
“This Advocacy Plan is one of our most important tools for securing the partnerships and investment our community deserves,” he said.
“It gives us the structure and clarity we need when we’re at the table with government and industry.
“It helps us tell a clear story about our region - its strengths, its ambitions and the outcomes we’re striving for on behalf of our community.”
The previous plan expired in 2025, and throughout last year councillors worked together to identify the region’s evolving challenges and opportunities.
Those discussions shaped the updated plan, which will guide how council engages with the NSW and Australian Governments, industry partners and key stakeholders.
The updated Advocacy Plan puts a stronger focus on long-term growth, economic diversification and supporting new industries alongside the region’s traditional strengths.
It places greater emphasis on housing supply, population growth and attracting workers and families.
It also strengthens council’s approach to workforce development, helping address critical shortages across key local sectors.
Transport and freight connectivity features prominently, positioning Edward River as an important logistics hub with improved road, rail and intermodal connections.
The plan also reinforces council’s commitment to essential community infrastructure such as health, education and emergency services, with a clearer link to population growth and liveability.
Council CEO Jack Bond said the refined priorities will play a critical role in shaping how council positions the region and unlocks future opportunities.
“This updated plan ensures we’re thinking ahead, preparing for growth and seeking the kinds of investments that will make a genuine difference to the everyday lives of our residents.
“It sets us up to advocate more effectively and strategically than ever.”
