The scholarship is named for former Fitzpatrick Fabrications apprentice Will McKern, who died in a car crash on his way to trade school in 2023, and embodied all this scholarship is about.
The scholarship has had fantastic support from Fitzpatrick Fabrications, Troy Denbrok of Hotondo Homes, Dahlsens Mitre 10 Deniliquin and the Deniliquin Business Chamber.
This year, it has been jointly awarded to two Tyndall Electrical apprentices.
Tom McCallum
Tom is an outstanding fourth‑year apprentice who has grown into a confident, capable, and trusted member of the Tyndall Electrical team.
He shows strong technical skill, initiative, and real pride in his work, having developed enormously since starting straight out of Year 12.
Energetic and great with people, Tom tackles every job with focus and maturity. He’s also a big part of the Deniliquin community - a quick, creative footballer for the Rams and a reliable opening batsman for the Deni Rhinos.
His teamwork, discipline, and drive shine both on the field and on the job, making him an invaluable member of the Tyndalls team.
Will Dudley
Will is a hardworking, reliable, and quietly exceptional fourth‑year apprentice who began his journey as a school‑based trainee in Year 10.
His calm nature, methodical approach, and ability to stay focused under pressure set him apart.
Will listens, learns quickly, and consistently delivers high‑quality work, earning respect without ever seeking the spotlight.
He also shows great initiative outside of work, running his own small wood supply business while still making time for fishing, camping, motorbikes, and football.
A committed member of the Deniliquin Rovers, Will is valued for his teamwork and positive attitude. His integrity, drive, and quiet determination make him an outstanding apprentice and an invaluable part of the Tyndalls team.
