There are often changes that happen in life that many of us don’t like, but we just have to go with the flow.
For some members of the Catholic faith this related to the Vatican’s decision many years ago to have Masses said in English instead of Latin.

Generally, you would think being able to fully understand what was being said would have been welcomed.
However, for those who would prefer their Masses to be in Latin, St Brigid’s at Mathoura has the answer.
Since his arrival and taking charge of the Mathoura Parish, Fr Richard Green has introduced Latin Masses as part of his weekly program.
They are held at 11.30am each Sunday, and a welcome is extended to all interested people.
Fr Richard is the main celebrant, but on occasion has Fr Ted Tyler — cleric appointed to the Jesus Mary and Joseph Carmelite Monastery just north of Mathoura — fill in for him.
St Brigid’s is located at the corner of Livingstone and Frome Sts, adjacent the Mathoura Public School.
The location is well signposted, so is easy to find.

So near but yet so far!
That’s the story of Mathoura Bowling Club’s Division 3 midweek pennant team in the Campaspe District pennant semi final.
Playing against Deniliquin, the ladies fell one shot short of victory.
It was unfortunate, but as they say, tomorrow is another day and 2023 will offer another chance at success.
The men’s Division 3 team also contested the semi final, coming up against Elmore at Echuca.
Unfortunately, they fell seven shots short of success.
Players are reminded to ensure that games in club championships are played promptly.

One week they’re in the limelight as students of one of the New South Wales Department of Education’s top schools, and the next they’re doing their civic duty.
Mathoura Public School students threw their support behind the Clean Up Australia Campaign recently, cleaning up the school grounds and surrounding areas.
That’s just what they do!

The countdown is on to the start of the Picola & District Football and Netball League 2022 season.
In just a few weeks the boys and girls will take to the ground and courts for the many weeks of fun it offers.
However, our local club would still like to welcome juniors to join its ranks.
Footballers are needed in the under 11, under 14 and under 17 teams, and netballers are required for under 11, under 14, under 15 and under 17.
The juniors are the future for this great club, which has operated for more than a century and has won numerous premierships in several different leagues.
The Timbercutters is a great family club and would ensure those who choose to play with it are well cared for.
Anyone with children who would like to join the red and blue should contact the club through its Facebook site, or call secretary Cindy Falzon on 0409th843th536.

The NSW Rural Experience Program teacher who has joined the Mathoura Public School team is settling in to her new position.
Mrs Kylie Redman has exchanged quantity for quality, moving from a school of 2000 students to our little school in the bush which has been recognised as an ambassador high performance school — one of only 10 statewide.
Mrs Redman and her husband are enjoying their surroundings and meeting locals.
I’m sure they will enjoy their stay.

Locals will be pleased to hear that the Cancer Council’s popular fundraiser celebration, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, will be back on the local calendar this year.
And organisers are planning to make it bigger and better than ever, and eclipse last year’s massive $4,000 takings.
It is expected to be held in May or June and any one who would like to support the event in any way should contact Aleisha McIntosh.
