The annual event, arranged by the Lions Club for the community, is a highlight of the festive season.
A club spokesperson said the venue had to be changed from the Botanical Gardens to the Town Hall due to the wet weather.
“A large gathering joined in the carol singing lea by the Benalla Theatre Company, the Rose City Band and the Benalla P-12 College Band.
“Santa arrived in an SES Vehicle driven by Elf Garth.
“Many young ones had photos taken with Santa, who then gave them a small gift.
“Those attending were met at the entry by Benalla Scouts who were handing out the songbooks, a task well done.
“Our Local international country and western star, Wayne Horsburgh, graced those present with four Christmas songs.
“The students of Benalla P-12 College, led by Edwin Bonono joined the Rose City Band in several numbers then performed several items on their own.
“Two students concluded the evening with a saxophone tribute, which delighted those present.
“Benalla Lions wish to thank the sponsors of the evening, Benalla Rural City, and Benalla Golf Club – who supplied the songbooks.
“Thank you also to Rev Mellisa Clark of Benalla Anglican Church for her Christmas message.”
