The event, which runs from April 17 to 19, will bring artists, visitors and locals together to celebrate creativity across the town.
The three-day festival will see 11 new large-scale murals added to Benalla’s renowned open-air gallery, further strengthening the town’s reputation as one of the country’s leading destinations for contemporary street art.
Across the weekend, the community can enjoy more than 50 exhibitions, talks, installations and events, with laneways, walls and galleries coming alive as spaces for creativity, conversation and connection.
Among this year’s exciting line-up is local business owner Matt Davis, aka Mattie Davo, whose involvement highlights the strong local talent at the heart of the festival.
Born in Yarrawonga and a long-time resident of the region, Mr Davis has owned and operated Benalla Signs for more than 20 years.
He has been a passionate supporter of street art in Benalla for many years, contributing to previous festivals through his professional work and pop-up art projects.
Mr Davis said he was excited to be part of the festival in an official capacity this year as an artist working under the name Mattie Davo.
“The Benalla Street Art Festival is my favourite event in town,” he said.
“Every year I’m blown away by the talent that comes here, and this year’s line-up is no different, I’m excited to be part of it.”
His 2026 mural will blend traditional and contemporary signwriting with street art influences, drawing on his deep connection to the region.
“I’ve lived and worked around Benalla for most of my life, so painting a mural here feels really special,” Mr Davis said.
“This community has always supported me, and it means a lot to be able to add something to the streets we all share.“
The Benalla Street Art Festival continues to be a highlight on the local and regional calendar, bringing energy, creativity and visitors into Benalla while supporting local businesses and celebrating the unique character of the community.
