Lourene Liebenberg has been named as the second ever recipient of the Deniliquin Business Chamber’s Norm Brennan Award.
Introduced at the 2022 Deniliquin Business Excellence Awards, chamber created the award to recognise an individual that has made a significant contribution to the Deniliquin community.
It is named in honour of Mr Brennan who died in 2021 while still Mayor of Edward River Council.
It is in recognition of his life to this community and being a “fierce defender of our values and our way of life, with a spirit that shone through in everything he did”.
Mrs Liebenberg was nominated and honoured for her “exceptional dedication to caring for the Deniliquin community, particularly in the realm of mental health”.
“As a tireless advocate and devoted mental health professional, Lourene has displayed unwavering commitment in her efforts to improve the well-being of those facing mental health challenges in the region,” his citation read.
“Lourene’s contributions have not only improved the lives of individuals but have also strengthened the community’s overall resilience, making her a true beacon of hope and an outstanding choice for the Norm Brennan Award.”
Mrs Liebenberg is currently travelling and was unable to attend the Business Excellence Awards on Friday night.
