Twelve basket-loads of food and other items wore contributed to a local Christmas appeal by the St Michael’s School community.
The hamper items were gathered through a campaign overseen by the school’s Mini Vinnies program.
They were distributed to regional families in need through the St Vincent De Paul Society.
Mini Vinnies coordinator and St Michael’s teacher Tina Pisasale said the group’s involvement was intended to “help brighten the lives of others”.
“The Mini Vinnies team encouraged all in our community to donate items to help Vinnies fill the hampers that go out each Christmas to those in need in our community,” Ms Pisasale said.
“Thank you to all the kind, caring and generous families of our school who continue to support others in need.”
The Mini Vinnies program at St Michael’s introduces children to social justice issues, to the St Vincent de Paul Society and to “living faith through action”.
“The Mini Vinnies team at St Michael’s is a vibrant group of young people who get together to help those in need within their school and local community, and the wider community,“ Ms Pisasale said.
Mini Vinnies members also spread a little Christmas cheer in the community by distributing Christmas cards and lollies to local volunteers before the end of the school term.
