A World’s Greatest Shave event will be hosted at Dahlsen’s Mitre 10 on Hardinge St, Deniliquin from noon to 2pm on Easter Saturday.
There will be a sausage sizzle and colourful hairspray station in support of cancer awareness.
Shaving for the cause on the day will be Mitre 10 employee Donna Bentley and her mother Shirley Miles, who will be coming to Deniliquin specifically to participate alongside her daughter.
Donna’s husband Rick Bentley will also be dying his hair.
Donna said it makes this year’s fundraiser “particularly meaningful”.
While her mother has shaved for a cure before, Donna said “this is a first for me”.
Donna isn’t holding back when it comes to the big moment either.
“I’ll have zero (hair), not even a stubble; I’m going the whole hog,” she said.
“We try and pick a different charity to support each year.
“I keep getting asked why (I’m shaving my head), but there’s nobody you don’t know that’s not affected by cancer.”
A fundraising goal initially set at $1000 has already been beaten, with donations at the time of going to print sitting at $1450.
Cash donations will be accepted on the day of the shave, or you can support the cause by buying a sausage in bread for $3 or having your hair temporarily coloured with spray for $5.
