It is a great opportunity to shop local and get something for mum while supporting local businesses.
Two great community events are being held on Sunday, and provide the perfect outing for families.
The Mother’s Day Make, Bake and Grow market at Memorial Park runs from 9am to 2pm, and is hosted by the Deniliquin Pastoral & Agricultural Society.
There is a range of stalls with something for every type of mum with kid’s activities and raffle prizes to be won also.
Entry is a gold coin donation and children's wristbands are $5 each for all day access to the jumping castle and petting zoo, while the Mega Raffle tickets are one ticket for $2 or three for $5.
Also being hosted at Memorial Park on SUnday is the inaugural Deniliquin Mother’s Day Classic from 8.30am.
The event sees communities come together to walk, run and raise funds and awareness for breast and ovarian cancer research to save women’s lives.
There is a 5km run/walk, a 10km run/walk and a 1km kid's dash option with generous prizes up for grabs for those who want the challenge.
Wearing pink is encouraged and the brighter the better.

Election enthusiasm
The election has certainly got the local community engaged.
It’s hot topic everywhere you go, and has certainly increased reader participation on our social media pages.
A lot of varied views have been expressed. And while we encourage debate, it’s unfortunately not all been very friendly.
Please continue to express your views, but we ask you to do so in a respectful manner.
Comments which are deemed offensive or get a little too personal will be removed by our moderators.
In the material world, one group of campaigners caught the attention of people headed to work on Thursday morning.
Commuters first noticed the orange shirts of four people at the side of Davidson St in north Denilqiuin, and as they got closer, they realised it was a group of Michelle Milthorpe supporters.
They were waving to passers by and brandishing election posters in a show of support for the Independent.
That one way to grab attention!
Aussie Carnival film
Join the Deni Film Society this evening for the monthly members’ film screening at the Deniliquin Town Hall.
This month’s film is 2023 Australian documentary Carnival.
The documentary was filmed over seven years and features the Bell family, who have toured across Australia for a century with their travelling carnival.
Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start.
Join via the membership page at denifilms.tidyhq.com beforehand to beat the queue, or you can join on the night. You can pay online or with cash, but give yourself time to do this before the film starts at 7pm.
It is BYO drinks and snacks, but organisers have asked that there be no glass containers.
New entrance open
Temporary access to Deniliquin’s Hardinge St shopping complex from Wood St has been open as roadworks continue.
The ‘new’ plaza entrance has been accessible from the vacant block beside the shopping centre.
Edward River Council said this will allow for works teams to continue with the project along Hardinge St, which requires blocking off the existing entry and exit points.
One-way flow models have been in place to help ease congestion during this period.
People visiting Harvey Norman and Mitre 10 are asked to use the entrance on Harfleur St, next to Harvey Norman, while this section of work is taking place.
More information on the project can be found at https://www.haveyoursay.edwardriver.nsw.gov.au/hardinge-street-road-reconstruction-project.
Vote for volunteer heroes
After a big response to nominations, voting has now opened for the 2026 Community Volunteer Awards.
The Adult and Senior Volunteer of the Year categories are now in the hands of the community, who can cast one vote per category online, by visiting https://www.edwardriver.nsw.gov.au/Community/Community-Volunteer-Awards-2026.
Voting closes May 15, and the winners will be revealed at a Volunteer Celebration Lunch during National Volunteers Week.
Got Tech Questions?
If your mobile has been misbehaving, your plan makes no sense, or you just want someone to explain the difference between a password and a passcode, Switched On Mobiles is bringing a free Tech Talk session to the Edward River Library.
They’ll be there on Thursday, May 21 from 1.30pm to 2.30pm, covering mobiles, plans, online safety and general tech help, with plenty of time for questions.
