The Deniliquin Motocycle Association hosted more than 205 riders for round three of the Northern Region Motorcross Series.
Association secretary Andrew McBurnie said riders came from Mildura, Whittlesea, Wagga, Wodonga and even Philip Island to take part in the event.
Among them was Kale Makeham, a former U19 Australia Supercross Champion, originally from Koondrook.
He performed in the MX1 race, and happily mingled with fans when not on the track.
Mr McBurnie said the visitors enjoyed their time in Deniliquin, and appreciated the efforts that went into the track before competition.
“People were eager to visit our beautiful town and check out and walk the pristine track prior to the event.
“A big thank you to Deni Sand and Soil, Murray Constructions and Edward River Council for providing the finishing touches of sand to the track prior to the race day.
“Also a big shout out to Leighroy Holmberg who worked early Saturday morning to ensure the track was in tip top condition.”
Heavy fog and cold conditions still lingered on Sunday morning, but didn’t dampen the atmosphere.
There was a buzz of excitement in the pits when the more than 200 riders revved their engines.
The race day consisted of nine races with divisions being MX2, junior 125/girls, division two, MX1, 85bw, Vets/ladies, junior 250 and 85sw.
“It was great to see so many local spectators turn up to watch the race day,” Mr McBurnie said.
“Thank you to everyone who was involved in the event for an amazing day of racing.”
