For the second time since April, Need for Feed Australia called on help from the Deniliquin community.
Their volunteer drivers needed a place to stop safely and to rest on their way to South Australia to deliver much-needed livestock feed.
And Deni Play on the Plains Festival Ltd general manager Vicky Lowry and her team were only too happy to oblige.
She extended heartfelt thanks to directors, staff, family and friends who gave up their time to support the vital cause.
“It was an honour to be part of something so impactful,” she said.
The team hosted 40 trucks carrying 53 trailers of feed on Friday night.
The drivers came from other parts of NSW, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia to be involved in the charity initiative.
They then left Deniliquin as one convoy on Saturday morning, headed for South Australia.
The convoy passed through Moulamein, Balranald, Mildura, Barmera, Morgan and then finished up in Glastone, South Australia.
On Sunday, the trucks dispersed to deliver the feed to farmers.
While in Deniliquin, the volunteer drivers and support crews were provided with dinner and breakfast by the Muster team.
Need For Feed is a Lions Club project that was established in 2006, and is now a leading provider of emergency fodder at both state and national levels.
What makes Need For Feed even more remarkable is that it is run entirely by volunteers, a testament to the dedication and generosity of everyday Australians helping others in time of need.
The Need for Feed team said their convoy included B-triples, five road trains and six B-doubles, which picked up their loads at the organisation’s fodder depots at Cobram or Jindera before making their way to Deni.
“Thank you once again for your support, Deni Ute Muster,” the organisation said.
“Making your facilities available so that our volunteers can gather together before setting off adds a special element to the hay run.”
