New nets at the tennis

Deniliquin Community Group president Anthony Michael and Deniliquin Lawn Tennis president Nick Metcalfe.

New tennis nets have been installed at the Charlotte St courts, thanks to the Deniliquin Community Group.

In place before the autumn twilight competition wrapped up, the Deniliquin Lawn Tennis Club made sure to recognise the contribution during the recent finals.

Tennis Club chair Nick Metcalfe and Deniliquin Community Group chair Anthony Michael unveiled the new nets, the cost of which was mostly covered by the grant.

“We’re very appreciative of the funding from the Deniliquin Community Group,” Metcalfe said.

“The generosity makes a difference to the playing opportunities we can provide here at the tennis club.”

The nets were purchased locally at Hardman Deniliquin Intersport.

Funds distributed by the Deniliquin Community Group annually are generated from commissions on specially tagged accounts with the Bendigo Bank.
