On Sunday, August 28, the TOM team drove to Sturt Public School in Wagga to compete in the Riverina final.

Team members Brydey Maher and Kyah Watson provided the following summeray of their experiences:

The team had to solve a six-week, language and literature, long term challenge that they had been working on at school.

They also had a spontaneous challenge to solve; the topic was ‘Money Doesn’t Grow on Trees’, careful thought was given to global issues which were chosen creatively.

At the presentation, North was declared the winners and took home the trophy for Language Literature primary.

The team are now off to Sydney in two weeks’ time.

We are very excited and proud to be a part of this experience.

Rotunda repairs taking shape

Repairs are progressing on the rotunda in Deniliquin’s Waring gardens.

Progress is being made on the repairs to the historic rotunda in Deniliquin’s Waring gardens.

This week, a new roof has been constructed on site.

Due to white ants and water damage the rotunda is undergoing structural change.

The works were expected to be completed by late July, but due to COVID there have been some delays.

Once finished the rotunda will still look the same, but will be more structurally sound.

He is particularly excited to get back amongst it with all the other performing legends.

Snakes sighted

Be on the look out for ‘slithery friends’, as snake sightings have already been reported.

It is suggested that the recent wet and warm weather has brought about activity earlier than usual.

The advice is to keep lawns mowed and low, and to avoid stockpiling wood, sticks and layers of tin sheets.

These are all very attractive hiding places for snakes.

Beautiful images have been captured of blooming wattles at Deniliquin’s Blake Botanic Reserve in west Deniliquin.

The wattle is attracting the birds and the bees, and keeping them very busy.

Spring is a great time to enjoy the beautiful landscaped gardens, natural lagoons, barbecue and picnic facilities and the wildlife in their natural surrounds.
