The second level cabin is located inside the grounds of McLean Beach Holiday Park.
Deniliquin Fire + Rescue NSW Captain Martin Smith confirmed the resident was outside the home before firefighters arrived on scene.
Emergency services were called just after 9pm, with Deniliquin firefighters assisted by the Finley and Fire + Rescue NSW brigades.
Despite the rapid work of firefighters, fire ravaged the home.
“The second level cabin was well alight, and we had difficulty extinguishing the fire because of the second level and due to structural instability.
“Once the fire was out, the scene was handed over to Murray River Police District to determine the cause.”
No further details regarding the cause have been revealed, but Deniliquin Police Chief Inspector Michael Fuller has confirmed the fire is not being treated as suspicious.
Crash clean-up
The cabin fire at McLean Beach was the second call-out for Deniliquin’s firefighters on Monday.
Just before 3pm the same day, the brigade was called to assist with road clean-up following a crash.
Two cars collided at the Napier St and Wood St intersection, leaving debris and oils on the road.
Captain Smith said firefighters used the specialist material Spagsorb to clean the oil.
