The careers, challenges, and opportunities that await them may well be beyond anything that any of us can fully picture today.
Yet our responsibility as parents, educators and communities remains beautifully clear - to give them every possible opportunity to thrive.
For the introduction of our revived Southern Riverina Education and Independent Schools publication, inserted in today’s newspaper, I wrote:
“We believe that three of the most powerful things we can do to prepare our children for this changing world are to: embrace them in a nurturing community; provide them with an amazing education; and to fan the flames of their imagination.”
A nurturing community embraces our children in safety and encouragement that builds confidence and the resilience that they need to take on the world and follow their dreams.
A great education provides the grounding for life itself and unlocks potential.
As Nelson Mandela reminded us, education is the most powerful weapon we can place in a child's hands.
It equips them not just with knowledge, but with the tools to think critically, adapt boldly, and lead with purpose.
Finally, we must never stop fanning the flames of imagination.
Innovation, empathy and boundaryless thinking are all born in the minds of kids that were once encouraged to dream without limits.
These three commitments are what every child deserves, without exception or compromise due to money, distance or social status.
These are investments not only in the child, but also in our community.
For every child given a quality education then holds in their hands the potential to shape a better, brighter future for everyone.
