The Echuca Lions Club held its Junior Public Speaking competition on Sunday, June 22 at Echuca College.

Students from Echuca Primary School, Moama Public School, Twin Rivers Primary School, St Mary’s Primary School and Australian Christian College got involved.

The competition, split into two categories for Years 3 and 4, along with Years 5 and 6, is an annual event held by the club.

Two St Mary’s students took home the competition, with Harvey Brown winning the Years 3 and 4 category, and Audrey Dobeli in the Years 5 and 6 category.

Echuca Lions president John Simson said the winners would move onto the next level of competition, to be held in August.

“All students acquitted themselves very well and were a credit to their respective schools,” he said.

The club has run the competition over a number of years, and it has proved to be a popular fixture among primary schools in Echuca-Moama.

A special thanks was given to Echuca College for allowing the club to use the school to hold the competition.
