A truck from both Deniliquin Fire + Rescue NSW and Mid Murray Rural Fire Service attended the depot about 8.58am.
The fire was amongst the rubbish and had been extinguished by council workers prior to the arrival of firefighters.
The call was for precautionary reasons, with two water tankers on standby remaining on the scene.
The cause is currently undetermined, but firefighters said it could possibly have been a lithium battery explosion or another disregarded material that may have ignited.
The Mid Murray RFS also had crews respond to a grass fire on Tuppal Rd on Wednesday afternoon, to assist southern border units from Tocumwal and Finley.
The grass fire started around 1.30pm Wednesday afternoon, crews from Pine Lea brigade attended.
The fire burn edroughly 15 hectares.
The fire started from a permit burn that was conducted on March 10 and due to the high winds and fire danger it was able to reignite and escape its containment lines.
No people or property were harmed.
Also assisting with the blaze were local farmers, using tractors and other machinery.
