Shearing scene wins peoples’ hearts

The current floods inspired Chris Duggan's winning entry in the Mathoura Photography Competition.

Local photographer Stacey Clancy’s artistic talents appealed to viewers of the Mathoura Photography Competition this year.

Her open sheep/shearing/shearing sheds category winning photo was also awarded people’s choice after public voting.

The image depicts a shearer tackling a woolly sheep, under the watchful eye of three youngsters - perhaps future apprentices.

The winners of each of the competitions categories was announced at the Mathoura Speed Shear & Annual Cancer Charity event at the Mathoura Recreation Reserve on Saturday.

All entries were on display for the crowd to view.

Organisers said while entries and the number of photographers was down this year, the quality of photographs was as good as ever.
