And that means it’s only another few weeks, until the $5000 major prize is drawn.
The Deniliquin Pastoral Times campaign is designed to encourage you to support local businesses when preparing for the festive season.
For the first time, prizes are provided as half cash and half Deniliquin Business Chamber Why Leave Town gift cards.
Katrina Knuckey from Dahlsens Mitre 10 - one of the promotion’s platinum sponsors - said the prize make-up has been enthusiastically welcomed by shoppers.
“They very much like the idea of cash, and people seem very keen to be part of the giveaway and are collecting their tickets,” she said.
“Local spending is steady at the moment, but we expect and hope to see a boost now we’re getting so close to Christmas.
“I would encourage people to shop locally whenever they can.
“We need that investment in the local economy to keep the shops open and continue providing the services this community needs.
“Every dollar spent with a local business also helps employ local people, and also allows some businesses to support your local sporting clubs and other organisations.”
Earning a ticket in the draw is easy; all you have to do is shop at a participating local business (see page 10).
Customers will earn one ticket for purchases up to $20, with extra tickets awarded for each additional $20 spent in a single transaction (capped at 20 tickets per transaction).
The first $500 prize drawn in October went to Mathoura’s Karla Jarrett, and the second will be drawn this Friday afternoon.
Before then, we’re giving you an opportunity to earn double tickets, with a bonus shopping day tomorrow, Wednesday, November 26.
Another is scheduled for Wednesday, December 10, before the final prize draw on Friday, December 19.
This will take place during the Edward River Community Christmas Party and Carols by Candlelight proceedings in the Deniliquin Waring Gardens.
Tickets can be earned right up until the draw.
