That’s the story of Mathoura Public School’s participation in last week’s PSSA Athletics Carnival in Deniliquin.
The school’s students claimed three out of the four age championships and runner-up in the 11 years event.
Little ‘pocket rocket’ Sophie Eddy led the way with wins in the 100m, 200m, 800m and 1500m events.
Her sister was the 11 years girl runner-up, the senior girl age champion was Georgie Taylor, and Chanze Egan claimed the senior boy age champion crown.
The Mathoura PS team secured many additional first and second placings throughout the carnival, ultimately amassing the greatest number of points of all competitors.
Talk about sporting legends! Congratulations to all.

Time is drawing close for two local firefighters who will again be contesting the Melbourne Firefighters Stair Climb in early September.
Jordan Simpson and Dan (Mick) Moylan will be gearing up in their full regalia, as well as 25kg back packs and breathing apparatus, to take on the 28 flights of stairs in the Crown Metropol Building.
The guys competed in an event in Parkes last weekend and it seems no staircase they encounter is safe from a run-up, including the grandstand in Echuca’s Victoria Park which will be rumbling as the event approaches.
The competition raises funds for the 000 Foundation, Peter Mac and Lifeline.
So the two guys would appreciate any support in the way of cash to assist the program.
You can donate direct to the cause by going online to the Melbourne Firefighters Stair Climb and look for their names. You can make your donation there.
Alternatively you can contact Lee Moylan or Kaylene Simpson, and they will ensure your donations go to the right place.
The boys are also running a competition to raise funds and would be happy to get support for that. Just give them a call.

Marie Crack received a special Education Week award from the school.
Recent Education Week activities at Mathoura Public School demonstrated how the school and its local community work together for the benefit of all.
A special award was presented to local woman Marie Crack, in recognition of the contribution she has made to public education, in particular to Mathoura Public School.
She is a strong advocate of the school, regularly acknowledging its many successes.
Mrs Crack’s 27 years service to the school as a cleaner prompted a rendition of the pop hit Sadie the Cleaning Lady by the students.
Congratulations Marie.

Yo ho and up she goes.
That was the result of a recent visit to my house by a couple of Mens’ Shed members.
They carried out some restoration work in my garden and moved some planters for a freshen up.
Thanks guys. Your assistance was very much appreciated.
