Rally secretary and Deniliquin Collectors Club member Helen Baker said exhibitors and spectators alike had a “great” weekend at Memorial Park.
Saturday provided an opportunity for patrons to peruse the many varied exhibitions, which included all things on two and four wheels, stationary engines and meticulously organised displays of collectables.
Swap meet tables and children’s entertainment also appealed to those who came through the gates.
The showgrounds did look a little patchy for part of the day, after a contingent of tractor drivers departed Memorial Par for the annual Tractor Trek, which took them to Conargo.
On Sunday, enthusiasts returned to Memorial Park for the show and shine.
“Saturday was a little quiet, but Sunday was very busy,” Miss Baker said.
“The trekkers also had a great time on Saturday, and congratulations to Rod Whateley who won the weekend’s raffle.
“The exhibitors were all very pleased with the turnout, and we did receive reports of parents losing their children in the pavilion when they became transfixed by the displays.
“The Transformer and Matchbox Cars displays were particularly popular.”
Miss Baker said the Deniliquin Collectors Club welcomed back a lot of old friends to the rally, but were also pleased to meet new ones experiencing the event for the first time.
“It was fantastic to be able to hold our second event back since COVID, after we managed to get one in just before Memorial park was flooded last year.
“A lot of people asked about the floods, and were able to see how high it came up by the water marks we still have in our collectors’ shed.”
Final gate numbers were still being tallied at the time of going to print yesterday.
More information, and results from Sunday’s show and shine, will appear in Friday’s edition.
