Eight players representing Deniliquin & District PSSA were chosen to trial.
Played at Narrandera, the girls from Edward, South, North and Mathoura primary schools played some great netball.
Team coach and Deni South teacher Aimee Liefting from South School said the students were selected from the Deniliquin & District netball trials held last term.
Participating in the Western Riverina trials from Edward Public School were Bella Leetham and Isabella Goodear, from Deni North was Stevie Williams and Charlotte Gatacre, from Deni South was Alice Petersen, Indi Conallin and Bailee Dunn, and Sophie Eddy from Mathoura.
They were among 66 students in total in Narrandera, where teams play against other zones from around the area.
“The Deniliquin & District team played fantastic on the day, being one of the stronger teams,” Liefting said.
“Six of the students were then selected to play in a possible and probables game, with students from the other zones.
“From this game, a squad of players was selected to attend the Riverina trials in Wagga Wagga.
“Four of our students were selected to attend these trials - Alice Petersen, Charlotte Gatacre, Isabella Goodear, and Sophie Eddy.”
At the Riverina trials, in Wagga on May 16, students from both the Western Riverina and Easter Riverina trials will be considered for selection in the Riverina team.
The Riv team will contest the state championships later in the year.
