Her husband, Antoon, pre-deceased her a few years ago aged 101.

Last week I made mention of how the strong wind showed its might and put on a show like no other.
Then, not to be outdone, the rain put on a show of its own last Sunday with 16mm recorded in just one downfall in one area of town.
Personally I was attempting to make my way to an afternoon church function and had a battle to make it out the drive.
On my arrival I was asked how I managed to make it through the inclement conditions. I told people I made it okay – just had to get an outboard motor fitted to my car.
When I think about it my remark was probably not the smartest given my destination but I’m hopeful of forgiveness when I was acknowledging some of his work.

Speaking of church , local St Bridget’s Catholic parishioners (and any visitors) are advised church will return to the normal time of 10am on Sunday.
We’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed for good weather.

Sympathy is extended to Dianne Dosser and family following the recent death of husband and father, Peter.
Peter had not enjoyed the greatest of heath and had only just returned home from a period in hospital.
He will be remembered as a ‘Good Bloke’.

After many years as your columnist, I have decided it’s time to pass the torch.
I intend to retire from writing the ‘Mathoura Diary’ column at the end of this year.
I would love for someone to take over from me, to ensure local news is provided to the Deniliquin Pastoral Times each week.
If you’d like to know more about what this entails, or would like to volunteer for the job, please contact me, or Pastoral Times content manager Zoe McMaugh at zoe.mcmaugh@denipt.com.au.
