Ten talented musicians have been awarded scholarships for excellence and encouragement, after wowing the adjudicator at the 2021 South West Music scholarship day.
After a challenging year of online lessons and COVID interruptions, South West Music CEO Leone Knight said it was great to be able to recognise and reward their music students for their excellence, commitment and high level achievements.

‘‘It is a credit to all our teachers and students who have risen to the challenges of the year.
‘‘The 2021 Scholarship Day was a big one for us, juggling 20 students from across the region performing at the Conservatorium, while hosting student bands at the Amphitheatre,’’ she said.
The scholarships will provide financial support towards the students tuition fees and students are offered performance opportunities that enhance their music education.
Two of the recipients, vocalist Sarah Duffey and guitarist Connor Clayton demonstrated their talent and joined the Edward River Concert band for their end of year performance at the Deniliquin RSL.
The South West Music 2022 Scholarship recipients are: Senior Piano - Bethany McCurdy; Senior Guitar - Connor Clayton; Senior Drums - Phoebe Selleck; Senior Vocal - Sarah Duffey; Junior Drums - Darcy Nilsson; Junior Vocal - Isabel Pearn; Junior Piano - Lydia Hornung; Bass Guitar - Braith Gow; Judge’s Encouragement - Eloise Gardner and Eloise Harris.
