In addition to the statewide Easter safety campaign, police dedicated two days to the areas surrounding the annual ConFest on Thursday and Friday.
Western district officer in charge Detective Chief Inspector Jy Brown said while it was positive to have no drink driving charges laid over the two days, he said the message about the danger of illicit drugs is not getting through.
“Over two days we conducted 390 roadside breath tests for alcohol impaired driving, and of those only one indicated a positive,” Det Chief Insp Brown said.
“On further analysis back at a station, it came back negative and so no charges were laid.
“But, police did seize a quantity of drugs which included LSD, cannabis, ecstasy and magic mushrooms.
“We also charged one person with having a prohibited weapon - a slingshot, which is illegal in New South Wales.
“We also only had cause to issue one traffic infringement notice, which was for an unrestrained passenger.”
Statistics from the weekend indicate that on day one there were 20 drug detections, after 18 cars and 25 people were searched.
On day two, there were 18 drug detections after 13 cars were searched and 17 people.
Det Chief Insp Brown said while impaired driving and drug related offences were an area of particular focus, police also looked for any breaches to road rules and antisocial behaviour.
There were 14 police officers involved in the operation, including the Police Dog Unit and two dogs.
