Vince had a round of 76 on Saturday to lead the men’s division, closely followed by Troy Grant on 77, with Oscar Marshall and Brian Bourke in equal third place on 80.
Vicki had a round of 81 to lead the ladies championship by a shot to Jenny Swainger, with Prue Lloyd in third place on 88.
Joint leaders in men’s B-grade are Neville Werner and George Willis on 84, in C-grade there is a three-way tie at the top with Stephen Townsend, Graeme Rothwell and Peter Seely all on 94, and in D grade Oliver Dellwo leads on 100, by a shot to George Kenney-Herbert and Graeme Butcher.
The ladies B-grade leader is Lyne O’Brien with 94 by a shot to Lyn Bond, C-grade Karen Butcher and Rivah Taylor are joint leaders on 102, and in D grade Yvonne Holmes is on 113 to lead Vicki Seely by four shots.
Saturday was also the monthly medal, with Harvey Campbell and Jenny Swainger the respective medal winners.
Harvey had a net 70 to be runner-up in C-grade on countback from Karen Butcher, while Jenny had an excellent net 68 to win B-grade from runner-up Shandra Simpson on 73.
The A-grade winner was Oscar Marshall net 72 on countback to Darren Mitchell.
In last Thursday’s stroke event, the A-grade winner was Garry Baker with net 71 on countback to Jackson Campbell, and B-grade winner was Karen Butcher net 69 from runner-up Lyn Bond 70.
On Tuesday, due to inclement weather, the Tuesday ladies took a break from the golf course and instead enjoyed indoor fun with chipping, a cuppa and cake.
In Wednesday’s stableford event the A-grade winner was Andrew Brunker with 39 points on countback to John Radeski, B-grade winner Jaxon O’Donnell 37 on countback to Ron Friend, and in C-grade Jack McGrillen had the best score of the day with 41 points from runner-up Colin Ramsey 39.
The ladies' pennant team continued on their winning way on Monday with a comprehensive 5-0 win over Rich River, at Murray Downs. Next they play Barham in the second last round.
Also on Monday, a small contingent travelled to Euroa for the Goulburn Valley Veterans competition, where the best score was recorded by Garry Baker, 39 points, beaten on countback for the runners-up trophy.
Coming up we have a stroke event with round two of championships on tomorrow, 9 holes stableford (secret 6) on Tuesday, stableford on Wednesday, then stroke for championship rounds on Thursday and Saturday.
The next four-person ambrose off the gold tees will be a 9 holes Sunday Social on April 12. Team entry is $40, with shotgun start at noon. On completion there will be live music from 3pm and the bistro open all day. Book at the Pro Shop.
The following day, Deniliquin Golf Club will host the Goulburn Valley Veterans Golf Association for its annual visit.
