Following a very positive response to nominations, residents are invited to celebrate the dedication and impact of local volunteers by voting for their chosen nominee.
The Community Volunteer Awards recognise individuals who generously give their time, skills and leadership to strengthen the Edward River region.
The community submitted 14 names across the three volunteer award categories, with community-led voting now required to determine the winners in two sections.
With only one nomination received in the 24 years and under age group, Tanaka Maunganidze has been declared the winner.
Voting will be required in the other age categories, with nominees as follows:
Senior Volunteer of the Year (65 years and over):
- Phyllis Ball
- Anita Buchanan
- Jan Carter
- Heather Fleming
- Tony Kew
- Jennifer Kooloos
- Colin Knuckey
- Cheryl McMillan
Adult Volunteer of the Year (25 to 64 years):
- Sivonne Binks
- Kate Butler
- John Glowrey
- Shannen Murphy
- Narelle Whitham
Edward River Council Mayor Ashley Hall, said the voting phase gives the community a chance to directly recognise the volunteers who make a difference every day.
“Our volunteers are at the heart of a strong, connected community,” he said.
“This is your opportunity to acknowledge their contribution and help decide who will be recognised at this year’s awards.”
Community members can vote for one nominee per category by visiting https://www.edwardriver.nsw.gov.au/Community/Community-Volunteer-Awards-2026.
Nominations open today, and will close on May 15.
Winners in each category will be announced at a Volunteer Celebration Lunch during National Volunteers Week in May, where finalists will be formally recognised for their contribution.
