The Citizens’ National Youth League team will kick off proceedings against Brisbane Roar at 3 pm, but the main event will be a W-League doozy, in which City's superstar-filled line-up will take on Adelaide United at 7 pm.
City's women's side features a string of well-known talents predominantly from Australia's surging national team; Emily van Egmond, Steph Catley, Ellie Carpenter and Lydia Williams were all in the Matildas’ World Cup squad, while Kyah Simon and Emma Checker have previously played for Australia.
And that is not all in the way of internationals to be on show; City's side features Japanese World Cup-winner Yukari Kinga, as well as Claire Elmslie who has 26 caps for Scotland.
United brings two straight losses to the clash, but also boasts one of Australia's true footballing wonderkids, with 16-year-old Matilda Mary Fowler to lead the line for the Reds.
All in all it makes for a sensational exhibition of the women's game and City coach Rado Vidosic acknowledged his team's responsibility to promote the league regionally.
“We are thrilled to be able to take the game to the country and I'm sure Shepparton will do everything it can to make it a day to remember for people there,” Vidosic said.
“Our NYL and W-League players will try and put on a show for them and make it as memorable for them as possible.”
City midfielder van Egmond concurred pushing women's football in rural areas was of utmost importance.
“It's extremely important to give back to the rural community, I think we've started to see it over the past couple of seasons the W-League,” she said.
“This year I think Sydney and Newcastle had a trial game in Wagga Wagga, so it's fantastic for them to be able to go down there and give the supporters and community down there a taste of where the women's game has come.
“I think the girls are buzzing to get down to Shepparton this week too and give back to Shepparton.”
City will enter tomorrow night's contest as a warm favourite after an undefeated start to the campaign, having beaten Canberra United 2-1 last Sunday.
The Reds have not been as fortunate, losing 2-1 to Western Sydney and 1-0 to Sydney to start their season and will need to quickly pick things up to match it with one of the league's more formidable squads.
Vidosic was pleased his side had made a winning start to the season.
“I'm thrilled; last season's first two games we had zero points,” he said.
“So we are four points better than last year, I think now we are getting players physically a bit better and in shape.”
In the Youth League match, fans should expect fireworks after City played a thrilling 6-6 draw against Perth last weekend, while Brisbane won its only game of the season 7-0 against Melbourne Victory.
Cobram's Gianluca Ianucci is in the City NYL squad, although he did not feature in last weekend's match.
