Men’s championships to start tomorrow

By Deniliquin Pastoral Times

Rounds one and two of the Deniliquin Golf Club men’s championships will be played tomorrow and Sunday.

In these challenging times at least we are able to enjoy fresh air and a game of golf.

Please be aware that measures have been taken to ensure the club and its members are adhering to the government requirements. Strict distance protocols are in place, and there is a maximum of one person per cart. If you need to order a cart, get in early as carts are going to be limited.

The ladies championships have been played over the last week, with the final round being yesterday. Results were not available for today’s column but will be in a special report in Tuesday’s Pastoral Times

In the first round of the championships last Thursday the winner was Pam Jarratt with net 69, and she also won B grade, with runner-up Karen Druitt. A grade winner was Jan Lord scoring net 72, from Carol Hardman net 74.

In the second round on Tuesday the A Grade winner was Kerran Leetham with an excellent net 68 from Ann Crossley 72, and in B grade Coral Maher had net 70 to win on countback from Pam Jarratt.

Saturday was a stableford event. A grade winner with 39 points was Barry Barlow, from Troy Grant on 36; B grade Brian Dixon 40, from Fay Harrington 37; and C grade Ali Ferguson with 40 points from Jayne Barlow on 39.

Wednesday’s A grade winner was Josh Hunt who scored 36 points, defeating John Radeski on 35; B grade winner Brian Dixon 38 and runner-up Tony Kew 36.

Members and guests are advised that at this point golfing continues through the COVID-19 pandemic.

The clubhouse is open on competition days but for take-aways only, and the pro shop remains open with limited numbers permitted in the shop at any given time. There are no Friday night raffles until further notice.

Our next charity event is the Royal Children’s Hospital Appeal fundraiser, to be held on Easter Sunday. It is a four-person ambrose with noon shotgun start. Entry sheet is in the pro shop.
