With both netball and football seasons postponed until May 31, the soccer season could be next to see Coronavirus restrictions affect play.
Wanderers president Jacob Hird said the club has not yet received a direct notification from the Griffith and District Football Association about the season status.
However, directives regarding preseason, training and Federation Football Australia suspensions could be an indication to the club for future announcements.
‘‘Our season was originally set to start on May 10,’’ Hird said.
‘‘However, the FFA has extended the suspension of grassroots football until at least May 31.
‘‘All of our preseason matches and training sessions have been postponed until further notice.
‘‘No decision has been made on the postponement of the 2020 season and it is unclear at this stage what form our season will take.
‘‘The GDFA will decide if the season is postponed or cancelled.’’
With the Wanderers returning to the GDFA for the first time in a decade last year, Hird said it hurts his team not being able to play a full schedule.
‘‘It will be disappointing for all involved not to have a full season, however as a club we will follow the advice given by the FFA and appropriate governing agencies,’’ he said.
‘‘All players have been instructed to keep fit on an individual basis.
‘‘As a club we are setting fitness challenges each week for all players to complete.’’
