Consistency was notable for four quarters, particularly with the full court defence.

This resulted in excess of 35 turnovers, which continued to extend the lead at each break.

With scores even, players were asked to reset and use their voices to build each other up.

Catie Lewis and Madi Leetham, in defence, put the pressure on and created turnovers.

The midcourt kept the ball moving with accuracy, and following two great intercepts from Matilda Glowrey momentum continued to build.

This lead to four quick goals and a win.

Best on court went to Madi Leetham.

Goalies Kaila Park and Lauren Butcher utilised support from around the ring to move the ball and create shooting opportunities.

Ellie Fishlock worked to slow the play while also demonstrating her second stop, drop, roll in two weeks.

The first half seemed unsettled and the nine goal margin at half- time was greater than was felt on court.

Alicia Collison focused on her footwork, helping to move the ball down the court and keep the pressure on throughout the second half.

Mollie Leetham and Carissa Holmberg created opportunities with their intercepts and the team settled, found their groove and finished with a strong 36-14 win.

What a wonderful first match for our development team.

This allowed them to develop and practise all their skills.

The coach could not have been prouder when the young Roos didn’t hesitate when asked to fill an empty spot in Katandra’s team to make up their starting seven.

It was fantastic to see such great sportsmanship from such young players.
