As weather heats up, so does the scoring

At last we have seen some summer weather and the ideal golfing conditions have been reflected in good scores on the golf course.

Saturday was singles versus par and scores of plus four or five were needed to be on the winners’ list.

In A grade Jenny Swainger had +4 to win on countback to Gary Rodda, in B grade Hugh Sutton had +5 to win by a shot to Gary Brant, and in C grade Wendy Pearce had +4 to defeat Peter O’Brien on +3.

Last Thursday the ladies played a stable-ford event, won by Pauline Davis with 38 points, from Wendy Liefting 36.

On Wednesday Wayne Hodgson had 40 points to win A grade by a shot to Jimmy Poka jnr, and in B grade Tony Tonta had a day out, recording 45 points to win easily from runner-up Don Bull on 38.

Coming up we have a fourball aggregate event today and single stableford tomorrow.

Ladies will play their 9 hole stableford on Tuesday, with 9 and 18 hole stableford events on Thursday.

The usual men’s stableford will be played on Wednesday.

There will be no event on Christmas Day, but stableford will be played on Boxing Day.

Don’t forget to get down to the club on Friday night, with Christmas hams and turkeys being raffled. Quality meals are available at a reasonable price, but please don’t forget to book.
