At our home deck, we were hoping for a win before our night at the ball.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t pull it off.
Injuries started to pile up, and we couldn’t quite match it with them for enough time required to give us a real chance.
Sam Singleton, Jack Fennell and Matt Macansh were among the best.
Final score: Blighty 9.9 (63) def by Tocumwal 16.11 (107).
Reserves
Taking on Toc at home with the ball to follow, the boys were keen to put in a performance that was worth celebrating.
Kyel Bain's typical dominant pressure clearance work led to the opening score.
Jack ‘Belt’ Sander’s work, movement and evasiveness around the ground made him a strong contributor.
Swapping off the ball with Nick Taylor up forward, the pair linked up beautifully through the second quarter to set the game up for us.
Though closer than we would have liked towards the end, the win is a great reward for effort and our progressive improvement.
Final score: Blighty 5.6 (36) def Tocumwal 3.14 (32).
Best: Nick Taylor, Jack Sander, Kyel Bain, Ben Crossley, George Reid.
• Reports for other grades will appear in Friday’s edition.
