Just three days after the Weekend Pennant Div 5 team lost to the Steamers, the Dov 3 side went into the match determined.
But Moama ascended on the greens at Rich River to claim the silverware.
The Moama combination was too consistent across both rinks, winning 45 to 30.
John Murray’s Deniliquin team of Ian Chessells, Cheryl Bradley and Jenny Tonta fought back after a shaky start to trail 11 to 13 at the halfway mark, but the Moama side played very consistently from that point on.
The Steamers controlled the mat, winning seven of the remaining 10 ends to triumph 25 to 15.
Deniliquin’s other rink - Bruce Clancy, Wayne Bradley, Ken ‘Titch’ Salter and Noel Murray - only trailed 10 to 12 after 14 ends, but Moama took the following four ends to stretch the margin to 10 shots.
Deniliquin finished strongly to claim five shots over the final four ends, but could not bridge the gap with Moama.
The Steamers claimed the rink, 20 to 15.
“Congratulations to Division 3 on a wonderful season and a valiant grand final effort, encouraged and supported in their endeavours on the day by a large group of loyal supporters,” a club spokesperson said.
“Thank you to Jo Bovell for her management of the team and driving the bus on the day.
“Special thanks for Dysons for their outstanding support of the club throughout the season and the welcome and generous provision of buses over the final series.
“Your contribution is sincerely appreciated and gratefully acknowledged by all at the Deniliquin Bowling Club.”
