Entry is $30 per player on both Saturday and Sunday, which includes lunch. There is also a 36 hole event over both days.
The club is looking forward to another big weekend and is grateful for the support of the Winter Classic sponsors, MRT Spraying, Riverina Watermatic and Deniliquin Carpet & Vinyl Centre.
The classic follows another big week on the golf course.
Last Thursday was stableford with two grades. A-grade winner was Ross Pogonoski on 36 points from runner-up Pauline Davis 35, and B-grade winner was Denise Hunter with an impressive 42 points from runner-up Ann Bull on 36.
On Saturday, it was versus par. A-grade winner was Duncan McQuie on square, with Ross Pogonoski continuing his good form to be runner-up on minus two. B-grade winner was Magnus Aitken +2 from runner-up Rob Armytage on square, and C-grade Graham Flanagan +1 on countback to Des Ramsey.
On Sunday, the club hosted a hugely successful MND Charity Day, which raised a massive $10,000 for this worthy cause. The golf was topped off with raffles, silent auction and an ice bath for several popular members. Congratulations to Noel and Jen Swainger and their team for organising another super fundraising event.
There were almost 70 players for Wednesday’s stableford event, which is an excellent field in winter. A-grade winner was Ross Taylor with 36 points from runner-up Thomas Bult on 35; B-grade Michael Everett 40 points from runner-up Gary Stephens 36, and C-grade winner Jane Glowrey with 37 on countback to Lee Pattinson.
Coming up we have the aforementioned Winter Classic this weekend, then on Tuesday it’s back nine holes stableford off the golf tees, Wednesday and Thursday are stableford, then Saturday is stroke and monthly medal day.
Don’t forget Friday Night Fun continues tonight with happy hour from 6pm to 7pm and quality meals available from the new winter menu at a reasonable price. Raffle tickets are on sale from 6pm and draws are at 7pm, after which you may get a chance to win bonus prizes in Boz’s quiz.
