Club hosts thrilling Winter Classic event

An extremely busy program of events continued when Deniliquin Golf Club hosted the 2025 Winter Classic at the weekend, in challenging winter conditions.

The 36 hole event winners in the men’s division were Ross Taylor and Craig Manning from runners-up Peter Joice and Alan Jenkin, and in the ladies division it was Kerran Leetham and Ali Ferguson from runners-up Pauline Davis and Carol Hardman.

There were 18 hole events on both Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday men’s winners were Ross Taylor and Craig Manning, from runners-up Albert Liebenberg and Gary Stephens, and ladies’ winners were Linda Brant and Sacha Free from runners-up Sue Byrne and Jan McGuinness.

Sunday men’s winners were Peter Joice and Alan Jenkin from runners-up Ross Taylor and Craig Manning, and the ladies winners were Kerran Leetham and Ali Ferguson from runners-up Pauline Davis and Carol Hardman.

On Thursday of last week, there was a stroke event with two grades. A-grade winner was Troy Grant with net 73 from runner-up Pauline Davis 74, and B-grade winner was Prue Chalmers net 77 on countback to Vicki Seely.

In Wednesday’s stableford event, the A-grade winner was John Radeski with 38 points on countback to Ken Wemyss, and in B-grade Graeme Rothwell scored 40 from runner-up Bernie Biggs 36.

Coming up there is a stroke event and monthly medal day tomorrow, on Tuesday it is 12 holes Canadian foursomes, then Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday are all stableford events.

If you haven’t tried the new winter menu at the club there is plenty of opportunity, with the dining room now open for lunch and dinner, Wednesday through to Friday.
