CR United are the Hockey Albury Wodonga Association men’s Division 1 and 2, and women’s Division 3 champions for 2026.
Corowa Rutherglen United Hockey Club has pulled off the rare feat of winning both the division one and two men’s hockey premierships in the Hockey Albury Wodonga Association competition.

Division one men won 4-3 over the Falcons in a thriller that saw CR United trailing 2-0 at half-time.
Some exceptionally hard work saw the men score three goals to one to have scores level part way through the last quarter.
A last minute goal sealed the victory.
The division two men then won a 1-0 arm-wrestle against Falcons Orange in a hard fought battle of attrition.
The women’s division three team made it three wins from three grand finals on Sunday with a 2-1 win over Wodonga.
With all of CR United’s teams, except the junior girls, making finals it was another successful year for the club.
President Alex Macqueen was proud of the club’s efforts this season and said they had received hugely positive feedback from the community, parents and sponsors.
“I don’t recall the last time this happened,” Alex said.
“We’ve always had either one or the other of the men’s teams win the premiership, but not both.
“This is huge for the men, but the women have been successful too, with a couple of unlucky games stopping further premierships.
“The division one women lost in a shootout to the eventual premiers, and the division two team lost their game after the siren.
“So it’s been a hugely successful year for the whole club.”
CR United men’s Division 2 team secured their premiership with a 1-0 victory over Falcons Orange.
Alex said their junior teams were not as lucky as in previous years, despite all of the boys teams making finals.
Neither of the junior girls teams qualified for finals, and the boys all lost their semi-finals in close matches that saw none progress to grand finals.
Outside of the premiership success, CR United’s Sam Macintosh was declared the Hockey Albury Wodonga Association best and fairest winner in division one for 2026.
The club was also well represented in Team of the Year honours.
Coach David Foster led the way in the men’s team, with Sam Macintosh, Tim Jones, Tim Smith and Riley Oberin representing onfield.
The women’s team was represented by Chloe Burns, Clodah Blain and Taylah Storer.
Alex said while winning flags was the name of the game, their club was built around culture and good clubmanship, teaching the juniors the right way to play and win.
“I don’t think we should measure success on premierships, but on what we’re trying to build as a club within the community,” he said.
