Deniliquin Little Athletics athletes delivered an impressive performance at the Regional Little Athletics Championships held on February 7 and 8 at the Kerryn McCann Athletics Centre in Wollongong.

The two-day event brought together competitors from across the Eastern and Western Riverina regions, as well as the South and Mid Coast Highlands, creating a strong field of young athletes and a high standard of competition.
Deniliquin was proudly represented by 10 athletes, several of whom achieved outstanding results and have now progressed to the NSW Little Athletics State Track and Field Championships. The state championships will be held on March 21 and 22 at the Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre.
Among the standout performances was Indie Oddy (8s), who claimed first place in the discus and followed it up with a strong third-place finish in the shot put.

Millicent Hall (9s) had an exceptional meet, securing first place in both the 100m and 200m events. She also demonstrated her endurance and versatility with second-place finishes in the 400m and 800m.

Maxi Robson (9s) continued Deniliquin’s success on the track, winning the 60m hurdles and finishing second in the 70m sprint.
In the 10s age group, Levi Robson showed great skill in the field events, taking first place in the high jump (scissor kick). He also achieved second place in the 800m and third place in the 400m, rounding out a strong all-round performance.
Older age groups also made their mark, with Ruth Hornung (14s) earning second place in the triple jump and third place in the long jump. Samuel Strong (14s) recorded impressive results on the track, finishing second in the 400m and third in the 100m hurdles.
