Fortunately, the weather was a lot cooler after previous days of heatwave conditions.
Borella Cup winner was Michael Everett with an impressive 43 points, while the Rita Barnes Goblet was won by Leanne Mulham with 37 points.
A-grade winner was John Penna scoring 38 points on countback to Andrew Brunker, B-grade Michael Everett from runner-up Duncan McQuie 38, C-grade Robert Karaitiana with 43 points from runner-up Jayne Hood 37, and D-grade Jacob Reidy 42 points from runner-up Mick Matthews 37.
Last Thursday in very hot conditions, a small field of committed golfers hit off early in a stableford event, won by Ann Bull with 40 points from runner-up Oliver Dellwo 39.
The 9-hole competition was won by Esther Bolton with 18 points on countback to Marg Marshall.
In Wednesday’s stableford event the A-grade winner was captain John Radeski with 39 points from runner-up Ross Taylor 38, B-grade winner David Connolly with 42 points from runner-up Kristian Mcnicol 41, and in C-grade Oliver Dellwo continued his good form with 42 points from runner-up Fiona Milward 40.
Coming up we have a versus par event tomorrow, 9 holes stableford on Tuesday, stableford on Wednesday, then 9 holes stableford and 18 holes stroke on Thursday.
The following weekend, January 24 and 25, is the Life Members’ Challenge, with stableford events on both days. More than $4300 in prize money is up for grabs.
Congratulations to Jason Kerr, who scored a hole-in-one during a visit to Neanger Park Golf Club in Bendigo at the weekend.
This coming Sunday, a group of our golfers led by Ross Taylor will play 72 holes as part of the Longest Day, raising money for the Cancer Council.
Joining Ross will be daughter Rivah (playing 36 holes), Craig Manning, Hugh Sutton and Dylan Osborne.
Donations would be appreciated, and anyone who can help by pushing a set of golf clubs for a while would also be welcome.
The reputation of our Flagstick Bistro continues to grow, with members and visitors enjoying the quality food.
The bistro is now open from Wednesday to Monday for lunch (11am – 2.30pm) and dinner (5pm – 8.30pm), and there are fresh weekly specials, lunch specials and exciting theme nights.
And don’t forget to talk to Sophie at the club if you are organising a function.
Friday nights have been a hive of activity at the club, and this will continue tonight. Raffle tickets are on sale from 6pm with draws at 7pm, and happy hour is 6pm to 7pm.
