Another outstanding Big Freeze fundraiser was enjoyed at Deniliquin Golf Club on Sunday, raising about $8000 and bringing the local MND golf club fundraising total to more than $80,000.

A large field of 26 teams competed, vying for a host of prizes in golf and novelty events.
The winning men’s team comprised Geoff Bessell, Ron Turner, Jaryd Sommerfeld and Gary Davies with a net 57, from runners-up Oliver Dellwo, M Burge and the Kenney-Herbert brothers.
In the mixed competition it was Ricky and Lyn Bond, combined with Matthew Pussell and David Connolly who recorded a one shot win over Graeme Willoughby, who teamed up with the Campbells and Colleen Henderson.
But the big winner was Motor Neurone Disease research, which continues to benefit from this annual golf club fundraiser.
Congratulations to Noel and Jenny Swainger for again organising a first class event.
The other highlight over the past week was the performance of the club’s ladies pennant team, which took out the Western Riverina east division final against Finley with a comprehensive 3-0 victory.
The event was played in Jerilderie on Monday, with cool and breezy conditions, all pairs had convincing wins.
Last Thursday the ladies played a stableford event, won by Karen Druitt with an excellent 41 points, by a shot to Marg Menadue on 40.
On Saturday, we had the men’s monthly medal, with Gary Stephens recording a net 69 to win A-grade and the medal. A-grade runner-up was Chris Thomson on net 71.
The B-grade winner was Rob Armytage net 70 from runner-up Graeme Rothwell 74, and C-grade Anita Gorsuch 74 from runner-up Glenn Howe 75.

In Tuesday’s 9 hole stableford competition, the winner was Sarah Young with 22 points from runner-up Barb Daniels on 17.
In Wednesday’s stableford competition, the day’s highlight was a great round by Lachie MacDonald with 89 off the stick for an impressive 45 points, winning C-grade from Rivah Taylor on 39. A-grade winner was Leigh Chappell with 37 points from runner-up Troy Grant 36, and B-grade winner Norm Purtill with 39 points from runner-up Ken Wemyss 37.
Coming up, tomorrow is a stableford event for the Geo. Guy trophy, Tuesday is 9 holes 4BBB multiplier, Wednesday is stableford, Thursday is Canadian Foursomes, and next weekend there is fourball best ball on Saturday and a mixed fourball best ball on Sunday for the DM Nisbet knockout.
Flagstick Bistro is operating five days a week during winter.
