Vince had an excellent round of 72 on Saturday to take a six shot lead over Troy Grant into the final round.
Vicki has a massive lead in the women’s championship, with the second round played on Saturday after rain forced the cancellation of Thursday’s stroke event.
With rounds of 81 and 84 (165), Vicki is 16 shots clear of second placed Jenny Swainger.
The men’s B-grade leader is Neville Werner on 174, just a shot clear of George Willis, while in C-grade Jaxon O’Donnell and Peter Seely are tied on 186, but there are five players within five shots of the lead.
Oliver Dellwo has a commanding 10 shot lead over Jack McGrillen in D-grade.
The closest contest in the women’s championships is in B-grade, with Lyn Bond a shot clear of Lyne O’Brien.
In C-grade, Anita Gorsuch has an eight shot lead over Leanne Mulham, and in D-grade, Yvonne Holmes leads by seven shots from Vicki Seely.
The final round of the women’s championships was scheduled to be played yesterday, with the final round of the men’s championships to be played tomorrow.
In Saturday’s stroke event, Vince Kelly had net 71 to win A-grade from Thomas Bult 72, B-grade winner was Rob Wettenhall 72 from runner-up Jaxon O’Donnell 73, C-grade winner Oliver Dellwo net 70 from runner-up Dylan Osborne 71, and D-grade winner Leanne Landy net 69 from runner-up Angus Knuckey 73.
Tuesday’s event was 9 holes, secret six, and the winner was Libby Henderson with 12 points from runner-up Mardi Chartres on 11.
On Wednesday, the A-grade winner was Chris Thomson with 39 points from runner-up Chris Mitsch on 37, B-grade winner was Norm Purtill with 37 points from runner-up Ron Friend on 35, and C-grade winner was Peter O’Brien 39 from runner-up Bob Landy 35.
On Monday, our ladies' pennant team continued on their winning way, with a 3½ to 1½ victory over Barham. Next Monday, the team will play host to Murray Downs to decide the pennant winner. Good luck to all players.
Coming up we have a stroke event and final round of championships tomorrow, then on Tuesday it is 9 holes stableford (back 9), Wednesday is stableford, Thursday stroke and ladies monthly medal, and Saturday is stableford.
The next four-person ambrose off the gold tees will be a 9 holes Sunday Social on April 12. Team entry is $40, with shotgun start at noon. On completion there will be live music from 3pm and the bistro open all day. Book at the Pro Shop.
The following day, Deniliquin Golf Club will host the Goulburn Valley Veterans Golf Association for its annual visit.
The Flagstick Bistro has recently introduced its new daily specials. The bistro is getting excellent feedback for the quality and value of meals, and members are encouraged to continue supporting it.
